Role Summary
We are seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain the data systems and pipelines that power our organization’s analytics and operational capabilities. This role is responsible for architecting reliable, scalable, and secure data infrastructure that enables business intelligence, system integrations, and data-driven decision making across the enterprise.
This is a senior technical role focused on hands-on engineering and platform ownership, not people management.
What You’ll Do
Data Engineering & Pipeline Development
Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration workflows across enterprise systems
Develop and support data movement processes using APIs, ODBC, SFTP, and similar integration patterns
Build and optimize data models and structures for consistency, performance, and long-term maintainability
Implement and support ELT/ETL processes using tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, or similar platforms
Ensure data structures are aligned to business needs and built for reuse and extensibility
Data Reliability, Integrity and Performance
Ensure data is accurate, consistent, and protected across all systems and pipelines
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data quality issues and processing bottlenecks
Document data flows, dependencies, lineage, and system structures
Proactively surface risks related to data integrity, pipeline reliability, or data interpretation
Security & Compliance
Ensure PHI and sensitive data are handled in accordance with security and compliance requirements
Follow secure credential handling and environmental standards across all data platforms
Support audit readiness through traceable, well-documented work and processes
Collaboration
Partner with technical leadership to refine and advance data architectural patterns
Work closely with application, infrastructure, analytics, and security teams to deliver integrated data solutions
Help design data solutions that support new systems, reporting needs, and third-party integrations
Participate in code and design reviews and incorporate feedback constructively
Serve as a technical leader and go-to resource for the analytics team, providing mentorship, guidance, and quality review on analytical work produced by data analysts
Help analysts grow their SQL, data modeling, and analytical reasoning skills through regular feedback and collaborative problem solving
Provide technical guidance to less experienced team members without formal supervisory responsibility
Decision Making Scope
Owns technical design decisions for data pipelines and integration patterns, ensuring alignment with architectural standards
Acts as a technical anchor for the analytics team, helping set the bar for data quality, analytical rigor, and sound methodology
Recommends improvements to tooling, modeling approaches, and data platform configurations
Escalates architectural conflicts or data governance concerns when necessary
Contributes to the evolution of data standards based on emerging business and technical needs
Required Qualifications
7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data integration, or a closely related technical discipline
Strong proficiency in SQL and relational data modeling
Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ELT/ETL workflows
Experience with Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL
Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or comparable technologies
Experience with data integration patterns including API, ODBC, and SFTP
Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, or similar languages
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex, multi-system environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience administering and maintaining SQL Server or similar relational database platforms
Knowledge of backup, recovery, and high availability strategies
Experience with database performance tuning including query optimization and index management
Experience writing and maintaining SSRS reports
Familiarity with database patching, maintenance, and operational health monitoring
