General Summary:

This position oversees Business Operations for CMH, PIHP and other not-for-profit or governmental clients which may include the client’s departments of Human Resources, Information Technology, Contracts and Provider Network Management, Reimbursement and Finance. This position assesses overall financial strengths and weaknesses, develops, plans and evaluates all financial services critical to organizational functioning, directs and coordinates activities and reporting of all finance, general accounting, cost/budget accounting, bookkeeping, claims, reimbursements, payroll and accounts payable/receivable consistent with federal, state, and local government working within the generally accepted accounting principles. The CFO provides highly responsible and complex leadership support to the client’s Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors.

Essential Functions:

Management of annual policy review and maintaining up-to-date procedures for the Human Resources, Contracts and Provider Network Management, and Finance departments.

Prepares all MDHHS (Michigan Department of Health and Human Services) reports, including FSRs (Financial Status Reporting), CRCS (Contract Reconciliation and Cash Settlement), Encounter Quality Initiative (EQI) and ISFs (Internal Service Funds).

Prepares monthly financial reports for presentation to the Board of Directors and board committee as scheduled by the board but typically monthly.

Oversees the purchasing process and approves agency purchase orders.

Participates in MDHHS and Regional workgroups as assigned by the client.

Provides leadership and direction, as well as coordinates the staffing and organizational activities for client Finance department(s).

Fosters and promotes a “customer-first” attitude in the work habits of staff, to achieve a high level of user satisfaction.

Stays current of State and Federal level regulations, rules and laws regarding the CMH/PIHP industry to ensure effective and efficient use of resources; ensures client meets all regulatory legal and accounting standards, communicating those standards to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors as appropriate.

Oversees the budget preparation process for the client(s)

Participates in the client’s strategic planning process as a responsible member.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Five or more years of experience in the CMH/PIHP industry as CFO or Director of Finance

Seven or more years of experience of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education

Excellent knowledge and experience with accounting software and databases

Ability to multitask

Understanding and knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations

Ability to successfully work in a remote environment including promoting a sense of teamwork and collaboration for a team that also works remotely

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or CGFM Certification
