This podcast was conducted at the CMHA Annual Winter Conference held on February 2nd, 2026 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo, MI.

Deirdre Mercer presented an educational breakout session at our Annual 2026 CMHA Winter Conference entitled: “Empowering Change through Compassionate Conversations for Children and Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities”. Deidre is the Director of Training at Community Living Services. One day Deirdre’s mom called her seven children together to announce a family motto: “Share and Care”, a motto that has carried Deirdre through the many phases of her life. This motto of share and care leads her to identify as a care giver first. Her work’s mission is to uplift, support, celebrate and honor the caregivers in our communities.
