What You Will Be Doing
Working as Program Specialist in the IDDA Self Determination Department you will assist with the program management of 2 specialized Medicaid services/programs (Respite and Self Determined.) You will maintain monthly monitoring lists of various components/tasks associated with Self-determination and Respite. You will assist with weekly monitoring of staff time sheets and onboarding of new staff, CHAMPS enrollments and a variety of related tasks. You will maintain a database on client participation and maintain client/guardian contact through Outlook, phone, and in-person. You will also monitor provider compliance with Medicaid standards. This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support 1) culturally competent, recovery-based practices, 2) person centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual, who defines his or her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals and 3) a trauma informed culture to aid consumers in their recovery process.

What We Require
High School diploma or GED and three years experience in related mental health field working with target population or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services field and one year experience in related mental health field working with target population. Ability to recognize and prioritize mental health or developmental disability emergencies. Lived experiences with behavioral health issues are desired. Ability to support the confidential nature of developmental disability, mental health and substance abuse services. Excellent communications skills, interpersonal and human relation skills. Advanced computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, database management and e-mail. Preferred license: Valid Michigan Motor Vehicle Operator’s license or the ability to travel throughout the Southwest Michigan Affiliation and/or state of Michigan as required for monitoring, training and/or direct individual served assistance by assigned department

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
