Description of Work

A Crisis Stabilization Specialist, under general supervision of the Clinical Services Supervisor, is a part of a 24-hour mobile crisis response team that works on both the warm/helpline and community response team that provides risk evaluation and stabilization services to children, adolescents, adults, senior adults and families that might have varying degrees of mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or substance use disorders. The Crisis Stabilization Specialist will be responsible for leading a 2-person team in the community to provide services that include identification of risk factors, de-escalation skills, providing therapeutic interventions within the professional’s scope of practice and supporting referrals to services within HealthWest programs and community partners. Crisis Stabilization Specialist will have a 40-hour work schedule that includes weekend shifts as a part of their regular schedule.

Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications
1. Possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a human services field, such as psychology, social work, human services, or related field, or be eligible to graduate within 90 days of application and able to submit an official transcript upon appointment to position; AND three (3) year of experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors OR One (1) year of experience in treating or working with a person who has intellectual disability.

2. Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.

3. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.

Preferred but not Required

1. Bilingual candidates highly desired.

2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.

3. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.

4. Diversity desired.

Physical Conditions / Work Location
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

A Crisis Stabilization Specialist works within the Client Services Offices and program locations of HealthWest, although travel throughout the County by use of personal resources is required.

EVALUATION CONTENT
Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
