The Community Organizer will support and assist multiple coalitions throughout Macomb County in accomplishing their annual action plans and carrying out strategies that will reduce youth substance use in the respective communities through action, education, and collaboration.
This person will be working with community stakeholders within their communities to further the mission of the respective coalitions and implement community-level awareness campaigns that focus on youth substance use.
This position will also facilitate monthly coalition meetings, build and lead ad-hoc committees, collaborate with community partners and attend applicable meetings, recruit and diversify coalition membership to ensure CADCA’s 12 sector membership representation, implement comprehensive strategies for community level change, and provide overall technical assistance to the coalition. Experience in community organizing, data collection and analyzation, and the ability to work with diverse populations is required. Familiarity and connectedness with Macomb County is highly desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, family ecology, consumer/community services, family studies, family and/or child development, guidance/school counseling, counseling psychology, education, public health, human services, or criminal justice.
Must be certified as a Prevention Consultant or Prevention Specialist (CPC-R or CPS) or must have a registered development plan and be timely in its implementation.
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator license.
