Minimum Qualifications:
Hold licensure as a Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP), Licensed Psychologist (LP), Licensed Master of Social Work (LMSW), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) from the State of Michigan.
Must meet qualifications of a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) and/or Mental Health Professional (MHP) per the Michigan PIHP/CMHSP Provider Qualifications per Medicaid Services.
Possess a valid motor vehicle operator or chauffeur’s license.
Must possess knowledge and understanding of co-occurring disorder (mental health and substance abuse); stages of change (transtheoretical model); phases of recovery and motivational interviewing/enhancement therapy.
Knowledgeable with criteria for dual diagnosis capability for substance use and mental health programs.
Essential Job functions:
Engages individuals and families in a welcoming, hopeful, empathetic manner regardless of stage of readiness and phase of treatment.
Assigns and supervises the caseload of intensive outpatient staff. Assists staff as required to manage caseload efficiently.
Reviews cases to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of services rendered. Conducts daily huddles, and staff meetings to review strengths, outcomes, problem areas and plan solutions.
Assists staff in improving and updating professional skills by providing them with information as pertinent conferences and seminars, new techniques in the field and current and pending legislation affecting mental health services. Orients, trains, and develops new staff.
Monitors case records, including signatures, and follow up and referral of individuals to community agencies to aid in an accurate history. Ensures that paperwork is maintained in accordance with Medicaid & DCH, & Easterseals guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Demonstrate the ability to identify stage of change and use interventions consistent with stage of treatment, including substance use. Assist staff in developing strength-based, stage wise treatment matched person-centered plans that are designed to address identified individual needs. Able to provide resources for integrated treatment including self-help and peer support.
Model and use the Spirit of Motivational Interviewing in all interactions with staff, individuals and stakeholders.
Provides outcome and strength-based supervision to staff utilizing a range of supervision techniques to foster professional development and performance, develop skill sets and increase individual outcomes. Conduct clinical case reviews that are competency based, strength based, culturally relevant and focus on improving client outcomes. (i.e. utilize motivational interviewing with staff-direct, follow, and guide approach). Assess for acute needs and risk and provide/arrange for appropriate stage wise intervention. In the presence of two disorders, evaluation will be made of the interaction between the two, as well as the relationship of each to significant life events. Demonstrate the knowledge of diagnostic criteria for psychiatric and substance use disorders.
Familiar with a variety of outcome measures for psychiatric and co-occurring substance use, medical or other disorders. Able to utilize outcome measurements in supervision and with person centered planning.
Provide support, education, and reinforce the use of prescribed medications to treat substance use and mental health disorders.
May also be responsible for the coordination of specific programs and projects as assigned.
Acts as a liaison with community agencies and substance use and mental health service providers, maintaining an awareness of the full range of human services available in the community that may be appropriate for client needs.
Instructs, assigns, schedules, checks and appraises performance. Hires, recommends disciplinary action and discharge, and recommends pay increases and/or promotions.
Responsible for authorizing medically necessary services for all consumers.
Monitors Staff’s caseload to ensure implementation of approved EBP, Promising Practice and best practices.
Demonstrates knowledge of principles of trauma informed care including addressing secondary traumatic stress.
Willingness to support and assist consumers with trauma related issues.
Provides supervision in accordance with the Individual and Clinical Supervisory Guidelines for the position.
Completes quarterly chart audits in accordance with KPI standards.
Performs all job duties and completes paperwork in accordance with Medicaid Verification requirements and guidelines.
Is able to write clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles; can get messages across that have the desired effects.
Has the ability to utilize different systems of communication with internal and external customers such as Microsoft Teams, eVisit, Zoom and iPhone.
Has ability to use internal programs such as EMR, Microsoft Excel, Office 365 and PowerPoint to maintain data integrity.
Promotes staff retention through policy expectations related to staff supervision, professional development, formal recognition, and teambuilding.
