Chief Executive Officer – Community Mental Health

Lapeer County Community Mental Health under contract with the Department of Health and Human Services, provides an array of services to consumers with mental illness, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder. Applicant will serve as the Chief Executive Officer responsible for providing a wide range of clinical, educational, rehabilitative and administrative services to residents of Lapeer County.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in a mental health related field from an accredited university
Experience in the Michigan publicly funded Mental Health System in a community setting
Minimum of five years in an administrative position
Ability to provide supervision and leadership in the development and operation of a local public mental health organization
Knowledge of and sensitivity regarding clinical issues of mental health needs, services, and programs
The ability to develop and maintain collaborative community partnerships
Must be highly organized
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Essential Functions:

Attend Board and Committee meetings and initiate and/or assists the Board and committees in planning, establishing priorities, developing policy, and strategic planning.
Serves as liaison and resource person for the CMH Board and Committees, the County Board of Commissioners and the State Department of Community Health.
Demonstrates an understanding and working knowledge of Michigan Mental Health Code requirements, and assures that the Agency’s is compliant with these requirements
Negotiate contracts with agencies and individual service providers
Provides supervision to the members of the agency’s Executive Committee and to the Recipient Rights Officer as well as supervision of the agency’s Medical Director.
Demonstrates self-motivation and the ability to maintain professional working relationships with community organizations while advocating for functions of the agency.
Responsible for assuring that communication with employee unions is conducted in a timely, professional manner.
Assures that agency staff routinely take steps to assess the needs of the community
Provide information to the community regarding mental health and mental health services through educational programs, news articles, etc.
