Under the general supervision of a higher-classified employee, serves as a professional lead worker, coordinating service activities of a designated unit within the department to which assigned. As such, assigns cases, monitors activities and perform similar coordinating functions of a non-supervisory nature. Provides direct services to department customers.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
o Serves as a professional lead worker within the assigned unit of the department to which assigned. Coordinates, monitors and assigns work to other employees within the unit.
o Provides direct services to department customers (children, adolescents and adults as appropriate to assigned unit/program) utilizing treatment or other methods appropriate to the service.
o Participates as a team member in the unit/department reviews in order to provide and receive feedback on types of services provided.
o Represents the agency to the community, other County departments, outside agencies, families of customers, and other interested parties in such a way that an understanding of customers¿ needs are fostered.
o Participates in service planning, research, analysis, grant preparation and evaluation of designated unit/program. Assists in development of alternative proposals and identifies objectives related to goal and policy formulation.
o Prepares and participates in the collection of data and information on services. Prepares various written and statistical information in proper format for presentation. Monitors grant proposals and programs.
o Provides assistance in the in-service training of other employees. Serves as a resource to other department employees by providing consultation and training.
o Participates in the planning and presentation of workshops, meetings and conferences. Serves on committees.
o Enters data into a personal or mainframe computer system. Maintains data bases. Prepares spreadsheets and reports. Prepares information, correspondence and other written materials using word processing software.
o Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work. May drive a County or personal vehicle in the performance of the work.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.

o Using sound independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines.
o Maintaining accurate files and records.
o Preparing clear, concise and effective written materials.
o Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted within the course of work.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
o Current license in the State of Michigan as a Social Worker.
o Possession of a valid Michigan Vehicle Operator’s License is required.
o Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a computer monitor and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone.

o Possession of a Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW).
o Two (2) to three (3) years of clinical experience with adults who have severe mental illness.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
o Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or Mental Health Professional (MHP)
o Experience in a community-based approach to comprehensive assertive team treatment and support of adults with serious mental illness.
o Position may require on call rotation availability including after-hour support
