What You Will Be Doing
Working up to full-time (8-40 hrs/wk) as a Physician Assistant in our outpatient psychiatric clinic, you will be part of an integrated team of clinicians providing services for individuals. We’re seeking a dynamic Physician Assistant to join our Psychiatric Services staff who has experience working with individuals of diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. The successful candidate will perform psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment to individuals in need of specialty psychiatric services. The NP is also responsible for conducting emergency mental health evaluations to assess an individual’s immediate needs to assure their safety in addition to preparing treatment plans, coordinating/communicating clinical decision-making with input from individuals served and other providers (e.g., case managers, PCPs) to ensure care is provided in a recovery-oriented, integrated fashion. The successful candidate will lead in education and awareness-building among staff throughout the agency on evidence-based and emerging practices with areas of specialization.
This position provides for great work/life balance! Primary hours are Monday – Friday. No holidays or weekends!
What We Require
A Master’s Degree and two years of progressively responsible experience in psychiatric health with children and/or adults are required. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and e-mail are necessary; experience with using an electronic medical record is preferred. Required licenses: Valid State of Michigan license as a Certified Physician Assistant, and a valid Michigan Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
The ideal candidate must have effective communication skills and the ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
Working Conditions – Office environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
