Tuscola Behavioral Health Systems (TBHS) has been providing services within Tuscola County since 1974. As the Community Mental Health Agency within Tuscola County, we are here to provide services to children with severe emotional disorders, adults with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual/developmental disorders.

– This opening is located in Caro, Michigan.
– Part-time position; This position is flexible in terms of hours; 20 hours per week.
– Salary Range: $15.94 – $19.31 per hour
– $1,500.00 sign-on bonus available – prorated based on hours worked
(If eligible, first payment at 6 months; second payment at 12 months)

Requirements:

– Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
– Per Medicaid Guidelines, qualified individuals must have a primary diagnosis of a mental health condition and must have been a recipient of mental health treatment and/or services for at least one year, with a substantial life disruption due to their mental health condition (i.e., homelessness, mental health crises, trauma, lack of employment, criminal justice involvement, discrimination, stigma/prejudice intensified by mental health challenges, receiving public benefits due to poverty).
– Must have or be actively working toward the Peer Support Specialist Certification as required by MDHHS.
– Direct experience with substance use disorders, criminal justice system, and recovery preferred.
– Ability to communicate effectively (oral and written) is required. Willing to work flexible hours is desired.
– Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance are required.

Major Responsibilities:

– Responsible for providing individuals with opportunities to support, mentor, and assist others to achieve community inclusion, participation, independence, recovery, resiliency and/or productivity.
– Provides services to others in community settings and coordinates/links with support services.
– Serves as a liaison and assists others with their rights and responsibilities.
– Participates on the Mental Health Court Team.
– Demonstrates knowledge of and actively supports culturally competent, recovery based practices.
