The conceptual foundation of ethics represents an inherent and essential framework for delivery of healthcare services. In this seminar attendees will gain a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts of ethics in practice, including autonomy, justice, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and others. Ethical codes and guidelines will be discussed, including the NASW Code of Ethics, the MCBAP Code of Ethics, and the APA’s Ethical Code and Principles. Ethical concepts such as confidentiality, informed consent, professional boundaries, and dual relationship issues will be addressed, and relevant case studies will be presented and discussed in large and small group sessions. With the increase of clinical practice through phone and video platforms, ethical concepts surrounding telehealth and teletherapy will be defined and discussed. Attendees will learn about ethical issues surrounding beginning and ending clinical relationships. Ethical problem-solving models and strategies will be examined and demonstrated. Throughout the seminar attendees will be actively engaged in a multi-media, multi-sensory presentation, well suited to all learning-styles. |

Stephanie Huhn, MA, LLP, CBIS, CAADC, CCM, ACCTS
Stephanie holds a Master of Arts in clinical and humanistic psychology and is a Limited Licensed Psychologist in the state of Michigan, in practice for over 12 years. She is an Advanced Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist (ACCTS), a Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS), a Certified Case Manager (CCM) and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC). Stephanie holds a passion for teaching and speaking on all topics surrounding mental health and wellness, and she frequently presents to professionals across the state and nationally. Her teaching approach is down-to-earth, engaging, and authentic, combining current data and research with interesting stories, examples, and demonstrations. Stephanie holds special interests in complex and developmental trauma, addiction, and neuroscience and has researched, presented, and written on these topics as well. She has worked in various clinical environments, including inpatient, outpatient, and community-based programs, and she has held a variety of clinical roles, including assistant clinical director of a neurorehabilitation program, admissions manager, program development coordinator, therapy supervisor, and dual diagnosis clinician. Stephanie currently practices at Arbor Psychology Group in Northville, Michigan and additionally provides educational seminars and speaking events through her company. Social Workers: This course qualifies for a maximum of 6 CEs and fulfills the Michigan Social Work Licensing Board’s requirement for licensure renewal for ethics. The Community Mental Health Association is an approved provider with the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative. Approved Provider Number: MICEC 060818. Qualifies as “face-to-face (in-person) education.” Substance Use Disorder Professionals: CMHAM is approved by Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals (MCBAP). CMHAM maintains the responsibility for the program and content. Substance Use Disorder Professionals participating in this training may receive a maximum of 6 contact hours. This training fulfills the MCBAP approved treatment ethics code education – specific. It is important that attendees keep a copy of the conference program brochure containing the workshop descriptions along with their attendance record form. This course does NOT currently qualify for CEUs for Psychologists. Recipient Rights: This course (RCA23-09) qualifies for 6.0 Recipient Rights CEU hours, Category IV (Augmented). Certificate Awarded: After confirmation that you have fully participated in this training (see Virtual Participation section below) your Continuing Education Certificate will be emailed to you within 30 days of the training. Virtual Participation: You are expected to actively participate in the training. See below for additional information about virtual training recommendations and requirements: - After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. - One week prior to the training you will be sent a link to register in Zoom. Be sure to use the same email used to register on the CMHA website. After registering in Zoom you will automatically be sent the meeting link and password. Zoom registration links for the training will only be sent to paid registrants. - Recommend that you save the meeting link in your calendar for easy access the day of the training. - You must watch the training LIVE to receive credit for the training. - In order to receive credit for this training attendees must be on video via their own device, showing the individual throughout the entire training, and be situated in a way that is sufficient for active engagement and learning as determined by CMHAM. Virtual trainings are to be treated with the same attention and vigor as an in-person training. Telephone only is not acceptable. - We do not allow for participants to be in their automobile/driving during trainings due to Michigan’s Distracted Driving Laws. This is required to show participation. - Internet: A strong internet connection is highly recommended. If your internet service is not able to stream videos, it will likely not be strong enough to support a webinar training. You will want a minimum upload speed of 5mbps. Continuing Education Rules indicate that if you are over 5-minutes late or depart early, you forfeit your CEs for the entire training. | Cancellation Policy |
Substitution are permitted 3 business days prior to the training. No-shows will be billed at the full training rate. Cancellations must be received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the conference for a full refund less a $25 administrative fee. If cancellation is received less than 10 business days prior to the training, no refund will be given. Refunds will be issued within 60 days of the training. You will receive a refund receipt to the email address provided when the original payment was made. If you have not received a receipt, please email your request to dferguson@cmham.org with registrant and organization name, training name and date, and order number. |
